Thanks to everybody who has taken the time to write in my guestbook. I had great fun writing the Saladin Trilogy. I'm so glad people are enjoying it! As for Siege… We know so little of what happened in the past Ugur. What we do know comes from a precious few documents, written by people who had far fewer sources of information than we had today. Yes, Mehmed earned the name Fatih by conquering Constantinople. My book does nothing to dispute that. But could a proud young man have paid a crowd to call him Fatih after his first victory? Why not? You actually skipped over a greater historical discrepancy — one that I cover in my historical note. It was almost surely Mehmed's father who led the Ottoman forces at Kossovo, but I wanted to avoid a lot of backstory and introduce Mehmed and Longo quickly at the same time. So, yes, I made a change. It is historical fiction, after all.
